I follow some people on Insta with ADHD, and have family members with it also, this is a common trait. I’m the complete opposite! I get so anxious if I don’t get things done there and then and once the task is completed I’m able to chill out . If it’s not done, I will obsess about it, until I do it 😤😤it’s exhausting! Great post Lewis thanks for sharing.
Argh feeling you on this one, Lewis. I was always ok at homework as a kid, probably due to fear and not having a personality… and fine at college (because I was learning languages, and I totally geeked out on the vocab: proper hyperfocus territory), but uni saw me completely unravel. And today, well… my tax return is due. Which is way too much serious adulting and my brain can’t cope. Why can’t HMRC gamify it? Someone should tell them! A great piece as always, Lewis!
I have 2 YA kids with ADHD, one of these also has PDA. She is not medicated as we love her bonkers! But my eldest (20) takes meds to help him concentrate when at uni and says they're a game-changer. Might be worth giving them a go, after all you don't have to stay on them if they don't work for you. His pre-meds lifestyle was very much like yours!
Thanks, I'm leaning towards meds specifically because I'd quite like to improve my concentration and nothing else seems to work. Just need someone to fill this form out for me now.

This is exactly me too - I am relentless until all tasks are complete! So you can imagine the fun Lew and I have living together 🤣🤣
Oh wow are you the famous ‘muse’ 😆😆 yes that must be a complete nightmare 😁😁
Right, I'm watching you two. I will not be made more efficient, do you hear me?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Excellent post! Also, naming your cat Ferris Mewler gets an automatic standing ovation.
Thank you Sarah. Yeah, we peaked with pet names when we named that old dope!
Lewis this is funny. My daughter is ASD/ADHD and parenting has taken me to levels of procrastination I didn’t know were possible.
Good luck with those forms. I’d like to know if it does help. Keep us posted.
Thanks Margaret. I'd love to offer some advice on dealing with PDA but, well, I don't deal with it so I'm really not best placed!
The forms are closer to my keyboard than they were yesterday. Progress.

Thank you Katie. Is it possible to gamify something as tedious as tax returns? Whoever cracks that one is set for life.
Oh, anything related to finances shuts my brain down too haha 😂
Painful, isn't it? I'm better than I was 15 years ago, but that's not exactly saying much.
Yep. I've learnt to ask for help 😬
